Rachael A. Tanner

Rachael A. Tanner is a multi-faceted entrepreneur.

In addition to Life & Love Coaching, Rachael also owns and operates Officially Hitched (wedding officiating services), is co-founder and co-owner of Venture With Purpose, and owns and manages a handful of rental properties.

Formal Education & Training

Rachael has a master’s degree in city planning from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). She also holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science, with minors in Spanish and Urban Studies from the University of Michigan (Go Blue!).

For over 15 years her career has focused on public service. First serving as executive director for ISAAC, a faith-based community organizing group in Kalamazoo, MI. In California, she has served several local governments: the City of Long Beach, City and County of San Francisco, and the City of Palo Alto.

Throughout her career, Rachael has developed skills in facilitation, training, community organizing, theater and performance, public speaking, writing (creative and formal), and project management among other skills.

Lived Experience & Identity

Rachael is a biracial, cis-woman (white mother and black father). One of five children, Rachael was born and raised in Kalamazoo, Michigan. She lived in Michigan until she was 25—then she left to attend the University of Michigan.

Raised in the protestant church (Salvation Army), Rachael’s sense of faith has always been strong. In her twenties she began attending the United Church of Christ, where she learned that God is still speaking. Since then, she has joined Glide Memorial Church in San Francisco.

Rachael is a proud homeowner and lives in San Francisco, California.
